Experience the electrifying world of sports action. Visit Caesars Windsor Hotel and Casino to place your wager on games from around the world. Dec 11, 2020 The motion was introduced by Windsor West MP Brian Masse, a longtime supporter of bringing sports betting to Canada. Masse was hoping the House would unanimously pass all three stages of debate in.
November 25, 2020 9:51amThe long-awaited discussion of single-sports betting in Canada will reach the House of Commons.
According to a tweet by Windsor-Tecumseh MP Irek Kusmierczyk, Bill C-218, which would allow single-sports betting in Canadian casinos, will be tabled in the House this week. The bill passed second reading three weeks ago.
Working hard since Day 1 for this very moment – Excited our Government will be introducing Single Sports Betting legislation this week
Total team effort. Thank You @JustinTrudeau@DavidLametti@LOCAL444UNIFOR@CaesarsWindsor@WERCofC@WEECDEV@MayorMcNamara@DrewDilkenspic.twitter.com/MbE2VYVrUH

This is the latest attempt to get a single-sports betting bill through Parliament, as several previous tries failed. Kusmierczyk’s NDP colleague, Windsor West’s Brian Masse, had been trying to steer such legislation through the House for several years.
Bill C-218 has generated support from the Liberals, Conservatives, and the NDP. Kevin Waugh, the Conservative MP from Saskatoon-Grasswood, is a sponsor.
The drive to bring the pastime to Windsor-Essex came to the forefront two weeks ago, when Kusmierczyk participated in a private Zoom call involving Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and local labour leaders. Among those on the call was Unifor Local 444 President Dave Cassidy, whose local represents workers at Caesars Windsor.
The casino is currently operating on a limited invitation-only basis due to COVID-19 control restrictions. Proponents of the betting bill say it will help add at least a hundred casino jobs.
After the debate in the House of Commons, the bill will then head to the committee level, most likely in the new year. Once it passes committee level, the bill will return to the House for a final vote, then move to the Senate.
Windsor is a great Ontario city to live in as a sports fan. It just takes a quick 15 minute trip crossing the border into Detroit and all of a sudden you have access to professional sports teams from all four of the major North American sports leagues. I personally have stayed in Windsor on a sports trip to see the Lions and Red Wings live over the course of a weekend.
Sports betting has grown tremendously in Ontario over the past decade, and Windsor is no exception. It has become the norm for Windsor residents to place wagers on a wide variety of sporting events throughout the year, and I expect this trend to continue in the coming years.

Offline Sports Betting in Windsor
Offline sports betting in Windsor is available through Proline, which is the sports betting lottery offered by the Ontario government. You can check out our OLG and Proline pages to see how I feel about this betting option. Basically the odds provide far worse value to the player than the online betting sites listed above and you aren’t allowed to wager on single games.
My #1 tip for Ontario residents who bet through Proline is to make the jump to placing your wagers through any of the betting sites I’ve listed above. If you are a winning bettor you will see your profit improve significantly and if you’re currently losing money at Proline you may even break even or at least lose less by wagering at the fair odds provided by the betting sites.
Land Based Casinos In Windsor
Caesars Windsor is located right on the river in downtown Windsor. It’s a quality casino that allows you to bet on slot machines, table games and play poker. There is also a “Game Picks” section that is similar to a sportsbook, but has the same type of rules as Proline. Namely that you cannot bet on single games.
If you’re looking to place sports wagers I would still recommend SportsInteraction.com as your best option in Windsor.
Leamington Raceway
The Windsor Raceway closed in 2012 so there is no horse racing location within the city, but both Northville Downs and Leamington Raceway are about 45 minute drives from the city center.
For the purposes of this page I will take a closer look at Leamington Raceway because it doesn’t require crossing the border into the United States.
